Preview of Kytravels'sblog at TravelPod. Read the full blog here: www.travelpod.com This blog preview was made by TravelPod using the TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow creator. Entry from: Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa Entry Title: "Wilderness extreme" Entry: "First we stopped in Knysna for some craft shopping, beers, and oysters. Then we entered more of a true wilderness. We went zip lining through Tsitsikamma National Park. It was really fun and not scary at all even with no instruction given to us! After that Chris went bungee jumping off the world's highest bungee bridge. He was a little nervous but was so happy he did it. He said the drop was even more intense than he thought it would be but it was an extreme rush! I had to pass on that one!" Read and see more at: www.travelpod.com Photos from this trip: 1. South China Tiger "Cathay" Giving Birth in South Africa

(Laohu Valley Reserve, South Africa) Ms Li Quan, founder of Save China's Tigers today announced that a male South China tiger cub was born at Laohu Valley Reserve, Free State, South Africa at 23:30, November 23rd 2007. It is truly a historic event, because it is the first time that a South China Tiger has been born outside of China. Only around 60 South China Tigers exist in captivity and less than 30 survive in the wild. This video shows the whole process of Cathay giving birth to her first cub. Visit english.savechinastigers.org to view more pictures of the new born cub. MAN MEETS WILD RHINO!

Meeting Morani "the friendly rhino" twice in my life was an interesting experience. Please make his spirit live on and educate yourself and do what you can to protect and save wildlife. To learn more about the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, www.olpejetaconservancy.org Morani's story www.olpejetaconservancy.org Animal orphans are on the rise due to natural events and humans legal and illegal footprint in the wild. For info on orphans visit places like the Nairobi Animal Orphanage, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust: www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org Mount Kenya Conservancy www.animalorphanagekenya.org SanWild http As stated in this video, this was a VERY RARE opportunity to get close to a wild rhino. We see all kinds of people/wildlife interaction videos here on You Tube from crazy places calling themselves zoos, ie the one in Argentina that will let you take photos with adult lions, tigers and bears. Or in China where baby animals are pulled from their mothers so the public can take photos with them. And in the US, as reported in my video "Lions, Tigers and Scams," we are fooled by people showing off lions and tigers for their educational shows which bring in money for them only to breed more of them so they have cubs to use for photo booths. This is not helping the few wild tigers & lions left and is doing nothing for their conservation. These cats you see like the white tigers & ligers and most of the lions and tigers are not in any accredited breeding programs or facilities with ...

White Tigers- What the Zoos Don´t Tell You

SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE INFORMATIONAL VIDEOS Learn about LIGERS: www.youtube.com Across the world, especially in the United States, a massive deception about white tigers and their origin is taking place. Did you know that there truly is no such thing as a royal white Bengal tiger in captivity? Did you know that there isn´t even a wild white tiger population, and that no white tiger has even been seen since the 1950s? Did you know that there isn´t even a conservational value for breeding white tigers, nor that any are able to participate in any Species Survival Plans? And finally, did you know that white tigers can only exist through rampant inbreeding, which causes heavy deformities, mental disabilities, and birth defects? Most people don´t know these things. This is mainly because the zoos just don´t want the public to know. White tigers are the animal that everyone wants to see. When sold, they cost much more than a normal orange colored tiger. They are seen as more valuable because the public has naively believed the lies spread by countless zoos around the world. White tigers are all related to Mohan, a white tiger cub that was captured in India in the 1950s. He was bred to a Siberian tiger (they hoped that the resulting cubs would be bigger due to the Siberian tiger´s greater size) in the hopes of producing more white tigers. When all the cubs were orange, they were baffled. But, as they soon discovered, by breeding Mohan with his own daughter, some white tigers resulted ...

Wildlife Conservation in Action - Cheetah - The Fastest Cat Alive Albeit a Slow Breeder

!±8± Wildlife Conservation in Action - Cheetah - The Fastest Cat Alive Albeit a Slow Breeder

Yes, the Cheetah is the fastest running animal alive clocking in at 70 miles per hour. No you can't get away, even if you tried, you need a car going down the freeway to get out of dodge if one is chasing you. And these wild cats learn to run at a very early age, even the cubs are fast, agile, and high-energy.

Cheetahs are also very social and make all sorts of sounds, this is their form of communication. They use it when hunting, lounging around, playing, and some of those sounds are mating calls - which evoke biological responses as well.

There was just a terrific article on this in a publication put out by the Zoological Society of San Diego "ZooNooz" in their December 2009 issue titled; "Do You Hear What I Hear: New Breeding Protocol for Cheetahs," by Karyl Carmignani (a staff writer) along with outstanding up close pictures by award winning zoo keeper and photographer Ken Bohn of the San Diego Zoo.

According to his article the zoo keepers keep track of the sounds Cheetahs make, and they know when a male and a female are ready to mate. Indeed, they've now recorded these sounds along with the others. And there are many according to the article; "purr, chirp, growl, snarl, hiss, cough, moan" but it is the chirping which excites the female and "triggers her biological functions to drop eggs" into her female parts and start her reproductive system in full-swing.

This is fascinating, and it's great that the San Diego Zoo can use these sounds and speakers to help this process along so that there are many healthy offspring born at exactly the right time even in captivity. It's amazing the science of zoology is saving endangered species. Perhaps, these techniques can be used to help other animals in the animal kingdom do the same thing?

Wildlife conservation is very important for species which are having a tough go of it in the wild, some due to mankind's encroachment, and/or hunting - and the damage caused to the food chain from human activity. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all this when you think about wildlife conservation.

Wild lioness giving bearing - Mala Mala Game Reserve

A wild lioness gives birth to two cubs in a Game Reserve in South Africa, this is the first and only known video footage of this happening in the wild ever! The video was taken by Ranger Graham Dyer who says to play the whole video as the best view is towards the end. In the video the lioness licks the first cub just after it's born then positions for the birth of the second, the cub in it's birth sac is visible, later the two cubs are seen crawling around as the new mother rests.

Entry from: Hoedspruit, South Africa Entry Title: "Study, Study, Study" Entry: "THe last week or so has been filled with recovering from being sick (just a cold but with a healthy cough for which I blame E for, haha), lion ID kits and LOTS of study. It's less than a month until my FGASA Level 1 exam so I've cracked down and have a study plan to now follow. With everyone constantly saying I should be fine because of my previous knowledge, I'm really feeling the pressure to pass so I'm trying to only participate in one drive a day and the other half of the day will be devoted to study. Unfortunately the manual isn't written the best (often commented on my many current and former students) so procrastination is almost necessary to clear the mind to try and interpret what should be fairly simple things to understand. A fe days ago, I was reading about the progression of plants, something I did for 6 months in school so I was fairly comfortable with it but noooo... it was written so badly I have since confused myself for a good few hours before I went back to just changing the names of what I previously understood to the South Africa terms. (Primary, Sub-Climax and CLimax for those interested...) I have given allowances for 'special occassions' and yesterday was Ro's Level 3 assessment drives so I went ...
